Where is God? (holocaust)

by LadyPearl   Mar 3, 2007

Where is God?

When barbed wire fences tears our faces
or day and night seem much the same
The throne of Heaven, among many places
Is where we shall lay our blame

Can you not hear God, the passionate pleas
Or the neverending faith in which we give
Even near death we continue praying on knees
What have we done that you can't forgive

Another day God, I see the burning bodies
Women naked and children cold
The weather falling beneath normal degrees
as if a present you seem to behold

My face like a corpse is past what I was
I live like the clock, ticking meaninglessly
I've began to break all your loving laws
For who can survive without acting selfishly

Can you see as God, as we guard our food
as we ignore an old man tripping
Or when babies are thrown out completely nude
Or when we hear a bride cry from whipping

No God, you have fallen asleep, perhaps forever
If you cannot save in times of dire needs
Then perhaps you our God, was never, never
Even real to command holy deeds
