Love

by Michael Mantione   Mar 6, 2007

Let us go, you and I,
To a place where vicodin doesn't coarse through our veins,
Where kisses really do make wounds feel better,

So escape and runaway
Swollow the magic pills
Inhale the heavenly dust
And get lost in the haze
Regrets fade away as your having fun,
Laugh lightly as it all takes affect,
Numb to the ones who hate

Love,

We are born sinners
Our love is taboo
Get smacked with the bible by religious perverts,
Who bend the rules but never break them,
We are souls dammed for all eternity,
Young lovers condemned for loving
Tainted youths must be purified and exorcised,
Love has been slandered,
For I am a lover, yet I am charged with the crime of a sexual deviant,
Can we find peace?

Love,

In our own homes its WWIII,
Locked behind closed doors no one knows or wants to know,
Home is where it hurts the most,
Rejection, Ejection, and being disowned,
Condescending words passed from ear to ear,
Shame fills the heart where warmth once resided,
Fear rules all when violence reigns supreme,

Love,

In the end is it all worth it?
Real love,
Can it endure?
