Oh Nan

by Rowena Linley   Mar 7, 2007

Though you are still here in spirit

I miss you so much

Though I can talk to you

I wish I could see you

For three years

I haven't seen you

You died a month before my visit

Why o why did that happen

Though you are happy

There with your Husband

Oh Nan why did you go?

I still wish you were here with me

The tears pour down my face

As I remember the happy times

Though you had Alzheimer's

You always remembered me

For I was your favourite Gran daughter

Oh Nan why did you go?

You was in a Nursing Home

When you died

And I was on

The other side of the World

I miss you so much

I know you would have

Preferred to die

In your own home

If I had known and been there

I would have taken you home

And told Auntie Val

Where to go

Oh Nan why did you go?

*This poem is true. My Nan died on the 4th January 2007. And yes it was true that I hadn't seen her for three years. Mum, Dad, Annmarie and I was going to go on a special trip to England to see Nan on Mothers Day and her Birthday which happens to be today, 7th March 2007 Wednesday.
