This Dependency

I depend on others
This is true
But I have my reasons
Here, I’ll tell them to you

I need someone to tell me I’m pretty
For I highly disagree
I need someone to tell me I’m witty
When I’m feeling oh so dumb

I need someone to hold me
To let me know they’re there
I need someone to see
What I cannot find in myself

I need someone to trust me
To know that I won’t tell
I need someone with which to call a “we”
To hang around and do stuff with

I need someone to care
To know that I don’t just exist
I need someone to just be there
To know that I’m not all alone

I need someone to confide in
So I don’t bottle these emotions up
I need someone to let me win
And show that they care about my happiness

I need someone to scare my insecurities away
For I’m not able to myself
I need someone to tell me it’ll all be okay
So I can go on with my life

I need someone to love
To show how happy I can make them
I need someone to be my beloved dove
And I their little chickadee
