All I have left

by Run out of words   Mar 14, 2007

Poor as a beggar,
I lie wounded on the road.
It's metaphorical language,
I'm so sad,
because my heart was broken by some toad.

You like that toad,
from one of those fairytales?
When you kiss him he turns to a prince,
and over your world, forever, he hails?

Well, my toad started off rather like this,
He became my shiny prince right after the kiss.
Who would've thought that my fairytale would come crashing down?
Who would have thought..
That this Prince would make me frown?

Nothing good ever lasts,
and the proof of that is this.
Nothing ever lasts,
this story is the proof that exists.

A toad he was,
not nearly like a prince.
But still somehow I fell in love,
through all that turbulence.

And shattered pieces of my heart lie on the floor,
right after he,
walked out the door.
I have nothing left to with them,
But I won't pick up these pieces,
because they're all I have left of him.
