When I Close My Eyes

***Before you read, this isn't about me. It's about a person that wrote a story in Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

Been through many, not one right,
Too busy in my masquarade
You smiled and for at least once,
I smiled back, so unafraid.

Words exchanged, I know you now,
Not expecting the way I feel,
I smile now, when you're around,
To me, this feeling's so un-real.

So now I think I'm falling,
And you're not catching me,
But why do I keep trying?
Maybe it's not meant to be.

But when I close my eyes
You're the only one I see
So how I wish, with all my heart,
You felt the same for me.
