Psyche

by Black night   Mar 27, 2007

Thrashing
in this pool of despair
as I am held under,
the current drags me down
as i try to fight
My muscles ache
and i lose my strength
The liquid cascades me,
Its stench forever burned into mind,
I can feel as my lungs begin to scream
Scream for the air of contentment.
Clawed hands grip my legs,
pulling me further down,
as my mouth fills with the foul taste
of morbidness.
Its blood flows down my throat
filling my lungs
no longer can i breathe.
Slowly the world turns to darkness
and new forms take up their place,
new caves
new creatures
to torment
to wreak havoc across my mind.

Darkness falls

A small light
only a pinprick
through the swirling commotion.
A hand,
not visible
but I know it is there.
It clutches my own,
and gently lifts.
Hope,
through the darkness and despair
as the light grows.
Air,
and my soul breathes
deep.
I watch as they shy away
those creatures of the night.
They hide and cower
and forever stay in their caves.
For there is no more darkness
Because of that pinprick of light
that one unknown hand
who saved
