Slavery

by Bill Turner   Mar 30, 2007

The wind howls with cries of anguish
Fields run red with the blood of bondage
Commerce was created upon a road of bones
Families divided, broken and displaced
All the while the aristocracy raced

Captured like animals for ill gotten ideals
Ripped from their land for cause
Whose cause? What cause? Fatal flaws
Beaten, flogged, raped or worse
White people became the curse

Equality was not in the plan
Till and toil, do not let the crop spoil
Heritage lost! Freedom at what cost!
The master plan was all that mattered
Not caring how much blood was spattered

A nation torn asunder
Fighting for what is right
All people are meant to be free
An idea that carried the torch
While the masters rocked on the porch

Slavery came to an end
But...did it really?
Now we slave to pay the bank
Working half the year to pay a tax
Sad, but that is todays facts

Great work on this peice of writing. A lil history update though where you wrote "Whites became the curse"..its a bit strong and partly true but whites where slaves as well.
Its a good peice though 5/5.
