Just for a while

by Dreaming of Screaming   Apr 3, 2007

I was gone,
but only for a while.
I stayed here,
Just for a while.
I wanted to get away,
for a while...
But now that I'm back,
I realized that, a while can be a long time.

Sometimes a while is forever;
like the poor child whose father went to the store, and "would be back in a while";
but now he is 40,
and that while has never come to an end.

Sometimes a while is to long,
like the mother who said that it would only be different for a while; but when the guy she marries really only wanted you, a while is too long. Then that while stays with you for the rest of your life, making the while, just a while longer.

I wanted to die,
but only for a while.
I wanted to help,
only a while.
I wanted to be alone,
just for a while.

Then I realized that if I really wanted something it should be for more then just "a while"

These kinds of things have happened to a lot of my friends, and family. I have had a few experiences myself but this is specifically dedicated to them.
