I remember that day,
When I came home at last,
I was training in the mountains,
Time went by so fast.

I saw you for the first time,
You were a stranger to me,
But my mind was on that Yuki,
He was the one I had to beat.

That very same day,
I lost a fight to him again;
To that damn rat named Yuki,
I hate him like the rain.

As the days went by,
I was forced to go to school,
I should`ve flunked the entrance exams,
But I came out as the fool.

So many things have happened,
So many things have changed.
My whole world is not the same,
It really is quite strange.

I reunited with many cousins,
All of which were healed.
By the hand of your heart,
And the warmth of your kind soul.

My life has been a road block,
I don`t know where to go.
So much pain and agony,
That much I do know.

Many secrets I did keep,
Many stories left untold,
There`s no way I could share them,
There`s no way I`d be that bold.

I kept seeing your face,
As bright as the early sun.
My life became less violent,
You made it seem like fun.

But then that fateful day
When my shishou did arive,
The fear came crawling back,
I did not want to be alive.

You saw what I kept secret,
You saw my ugly self.
My true form may it be
Taken off a dusty shelf.

I thought that is was over,
I thought I had no chance,
But then you came toward me,
And offered me a glance.

Your face showed sadness;
Your eyes showed fear.
I felt so guilty
When you came near.

I couldn`t blame you,
As the rain came down.
But I was surprised,
When you came around.

I never thought it possible,
That I the cursed cat,
Could be healed by this person,
Just like that.

You told me something,
I shall never forget.
Let`s be together.
I don`t want to leave you yet.

That is when I realized,
My life no longer worthless.
I had someone who understood,
My pain, stress and loneliness.

I want to live with you forever,
That is my final vow,
To protect you with all my might,
Tohru, I shall.

That`s the final truth.
Together forever.

**This poem was written for a contest and is a tribute to Kyo from the manga Fruits basket. His life has had lots of troubles and writing this I think I understand him that much more. I hope he can find love. Amen.**
