Memories

A memory is a reminder
of something long ago
Sometimes they are sad
But still the sadness doesn't show
Sometimes they are happy
like the first snowfall in December
Things you didn't want to forget
Things you can't bear to remember

((Note: This was, I'm pretty sure, the first poem I ever wrote. Er...maybe I'm forgeting some. Anyways, I wrote this when I was eight and since it was during class I got in trouble. My teacher took it from me and then asked to see me after class. I thought I was in trouble but instead she told me about a poetry contest. The prize was the opportunity to get a poem published. At first I wasn't going to but my parents made me and I ended up getting it published. Its not very good but it was my first attempt at a poem.))
