To All The Apparent Poets

by Bradley Peter   Apr 11, 2007

You don't bother writing for real anymore
You just write for the sake of writing
You speak of the mundane and pointless
Thinking you can make it exciting

Or you write in confusing abstract
Thinking you're creative, and deep
Or you attempt to rhyme the impossible
Sending all the real poets to sleep

It would be fine if you actually tried
Instead of writing what first comes along
Try to embrace the magic of poetry
Writing the words that truly belong

There are great poets past and present
Whom have changed nations and lives
Yet you destroy all their hard work
To the point where it barely survives

And not because you're so great
Nor because you've created great art
But because you written poison
By not writing from your heart

You kill the art of poetry
With almost every poem you write
I'm sure I'm not much better
But at least I try with all my might

Yeah awesome poem. This is true. It seems like some poems don't have any feelings or emotion in it. Great job addressing it

Great poem, great message. I must say I'm sure I've had my share of those, But i do find it helps get me through writer's block and leads me onto a better piece that I am truly proud of. I guess I see both sides. But I know you are truly targetting those who don't care about what they write. You can tell when someone (even if they aren't good) writes from the heart, and when they don't. Once again, good message.
