She is free

by Vanessa   Apr 12, 2007

The angels are here to take me home
I am tired of being alone
she said her voice fragile and small
it is time I got away from it all
I miss my husband dear
and it is time I am near
him as I long to be
finally it is my time to be free
with these words she did depart
although it broke my heart
I thought the pain would never end
I knew I would never see her again
not in this life anyway
I know everything will be OK
but death is a loss I do not understand
I remember touching her hand
after she faded to a better place
tears still stained my bitter face
she left a void in my cold dead soul
I miss her more than anyone could know
she always seemed to know what to say
to make all the rain clouds go away
I haven't anyone who can give the advise she gave
but I have to go on, I have to be brave
this is the first time i spoke of her in so long
I had thought all the feelings were gone
but the tears still stand in my eyes
She had a heart that had no room for lies
she was a woman that has loved life
being a mother, grandmother, and wife
she put her soul in every word she spoke
and when it was her heart that broke
the heavens opened with a cold lonesome rain
to wash away her pain
I just couldn't let it go unsaid
especially now that she is dead
I loved her so very much
I miss her gentle touch
And she meant the world to me
I am glad she is finally free
