When you're back

by Marie   Apr 17, 2007

When you're back it's all new
And you don't like what you used to
in a year your life can change
to a point that you're deranged
No one seems the same to you

Your daughter's a woman
your wife has a tan
your son is now a mess
cause his dad left him with less
While he's struggling to be a man

every time a plane soars by
you remember all of those who died
dead bodies scattered 'round
leaving bloodstains on the ground
and all those times you cried

Every thought racing through your mind
leaves you with a haunting bind
to the war-zone not-long left
And all of those death medals kept
Are never far behind

Locking yourself in your privacy tomb
Trying to forget the feeling of doom
traveling as far as you possibly can
to forget memories of Iraq and Iran
and all of the deadly fumes
