If only for one day

by Rachael   Apr 17, 2007

If the world would just stop turning,
if only for one day,
If all the nations lived in peace
and leaders had no more to say
If broken hearts were healed
and raindrops fell on barren lands
if people would stop fighting
and black and white held hands.
If the poor would feel no hunger
and the sick would never die
if there was never any pain
and orphaned children didn't cry.
If we all loved each other
and found the strength to say
We'd live in perfect harmony
if only for one day.

Yes, oh how sometimes i feel that way as well. The world is so dreay and painful that sometimes we need these kinds of hopes and dreams put into poetry to be expressed, and need them to keep going in such a world. Also, thank you for the nice comment on my poem, it was just the feeling i was trying to generate.
