I'm thanking you my friend
For the fun that we have shared
But now our friendship's hit a bend
Long since fun's been spared.

I miss you so very much
More than you'll ever know
I hope you'll stay in touch
No matter how far you go.

All the best to thee
I'd gladly give to you
Impossible may it be
but still my words are true.

Thank you for your friendship
Of which I ruin no more
Of all the many fires lit
Have scarred us both for sure.

Hurt you many times I do
For I am so deeply sorry
All I ever wanted from you
To be open, answer honestly.

Not my place to question
Nor to press and pry
Curiosity killed the cat
Too much wondering why.

I'm writing you this letter
because I promised you
I know that you deserve better
but it's the best that I can do.
