A dream...

I turn and look away from you
as the awkward silence grows
these feelings that i have for you
well you don't need to know
and as the tears grow closer
to bursting out of the dam
i have to walk away from you
for fear of what you'll say
but you chase after me
realizing my pain
and you hold me close
making fake promises again

i try to run away
twisting out of your loving grasp
but you take hold of my wrist
and feel the cuts through my shirt
confused you see what it really is
and see your name carved neatly
pain, then anger, then sorrow, then happiness
all these emotions play across your face
as i look at your beautiful blue eyes and wish i could read your thoughts
probably best i cant
i think to myself
fearing what you'll say
but what happened next was never expected

you wrapped me in your arms close against your chest
crying tears of your own
how strange this was to me
seeing my confusion you told me how you felt
and i looked at you astounded
but happy non-the-less

For months we were together
happy as can be
then just as i suspected
i woke up
told you it was a dream
