How Do You Lose Something You Never Had?

I thought that we had something there,
But I guess I was once again mistaken.
And even though this wasn't the first,
I felt like I've been forsaken.

I knew that you weren't mine,
But that night it seemed like I lost you.
Yet I still don't want to say goodbye,
Because my heart tells me not to.

How am I to live?
In a life that you're not in.
What am I to do?
I'm confused from within.

And I thought that you wanted time,
Therefore that's what I gave.
I guess I was wrong a second time that night,
After that, I didn't know how to behave.

So I'm not sorry if I didn't really talk,
It seemed as if you were occupied anyway.
And I'm not sorry if I didn't seem myself,
It just wasn't my day.

    Wow.
    When I first saw this poem.
    I thought it was going to be dull.
    But once I read it.
    I realized that the flow was fantastic.
    Emotions were strong.
    This is an amazing poem.
    Words could have been stronger, though.
    It would've made a stronger impact.
    Otherwise.
