Cinderella

by Marie   May 1, 2007

We all want to believe in cinderella
So beautiful but poor
Her dad died when she was young
and left her with problems galore
Her new family were all horrible
but she still kept her spirits up
Always working with hope
And playful as a pup
She met her prince charming
And he loved her the most
despite her low class
and her sister's need to boast
They got married and had
a great life indeed
Free of all past
arrogance and greed
We all want to believe
But who knows if it's true?
the times I've seen this happen
are none or very few
So why doesn't cinderella stories happen?
Why, because of society
But now we're not separated by anything
but our own lack of variety
although it's no longer a matter of money
but a matter of style
Cliques we are taught since the cradle
taught to every child
keep us away from those
who could truly bring us joy
All because we're afraid
Of being played with as a toy
Some cliques seem nonexistent
but we all know they are there
Even though some will disagree
or act like they don't care
