Reaper

by Liv Bell Couver   May 1, 2007

It's said the strongest woman is the one that goes home at night and cries herself to sleep.
In the morning she wakes from a restless sleep,
Heads into work or school, and places upon her face,
a strained smile.
People can tell by her clouded, nearly lifeless eyes,
She hurts inside and out.
All she wants to do is cry, but she pushes that smile to stay.
She feels so damn miserable, but no one seems to care
More and more she makes herself almost nonexistent.
She pushes loved ones away, spends her time in solitude
And hates the world for being so cruel.
Sick and insane, that's all she is.
The only comfort is knowing a razor awaits her at home.
She holds it to her wrist,
knowing what she'll see
The reaper will come to get her mournful soul
But where she'll be led,
is the place she dreads
So she lays the razor down.
Days pass, and she's reached breaking point.
There's a gun at home, new and polished.
But alas, there's a new face in her life
This person that's sweet to her, and caring
Kind, and throwing off a warm glow.
She becomes involved with this stranger
And finds she is led away from danger.
Things seem good, but she chose a hard path,
For the one is with is not that of a man...
But she has found,
One of dust and ground.
Forbidden this is to all society,
but who should give a damn
When she has chosen an alternative solution,
Instead of a permanent solution to her temporary problem....
What does it matter, as long as her smile has meaning?
What does it matter, if she and her choices are not hurting you?
Treat her as a human, do not treat her with disrespect.
Watch her back and damn well show your kindness,
For in the end, the Reaper was left with one less soul,
and he'll take the first b-st-rd that loses control....
