Helpless

Have you ever felt helpless?
Like no matter what you do
You can't help but feel
The way you do?
You just want to scream
And argue with friends
And family.
For some reason you hate
When people say, "I can relate."
It makes you think,
"How can you know?!
You're not me!"
Inside you feel alone.
Helpless.
Part of you knows
This it's not right
You shouldn't want to hurt
To make people around you
Miserable.
To make them feel how
You feel
So you don't feel
Alone.
You hate the fact
That you feel this way.
You've always been the
Strong one.
Always been there for others.
Now you need someone.
Someone to hold you close,
To tell you,
"Everything will be okay."
But then you resent that feeling
Makes you feel weak
Like you can't handle it
But sometimes you just have to
Give in
Let yourself be held
To wrap yourself
In the warm blanket of knowledge
That people really do care
And it's not that bad to
Let your guard down
Long enough to let someone
Help you when you need it the most.
