Losing My Skin

by Allison   May 20, 2007

I wake up each night
As the lights are newly dying,
I put on my elaborate face
And sadly walk out the door.

I arrive at my life
Where people come to watch me,
They sit and stare at me
As all my skin falls off.

I am exposing my soul to them
While shown in bright lights,
Bare and beautiful
They don't see who I really am.

The men see a woman
Taking off her clothes for pleasure,
But that is not my story
Nor is it how I feel.

I was fired from my job
I needed the money,
So behind this fake smile
Is a tortured soul.

I think most women who live this lifestyle aren't looked at for what they truly are, they look at as entertainment. But at the end of the night they're exactly the person they were when they woke up that morning. Interesting topic - Excellent job 5/5
