My New Year's Resolution Is To Be Myself

by reJoyce   Jun 2, 2007

When we autographed each other's hearts
I must have just used pencil
Cause your signature is all that's left
I guess you just don't need me anymore

So I lie here
Remembering the things we used to do
As I gather my thoughts on paper
Writing poems about you

I want to be humble
So I write my name in lowercase
Because I love you
And hope to one day see your face

However when I get discouraged
And need a place to sleep
I lay my heart to rest
In the place where I find peace

With this tear soaked pillow
I'm alone lying in my bed
Hoping you will one day know
The words I left unsaid

And take me back to that summer
The one in which we swore to never lie
On that wondrous Thursday in July

Oh the angel that I once knew
You reached up to heaven
And brought down God's grace
So that I may be saved

Why weeks later did I lose my sight
And change who I am to keep you
When if I stayed myself
I would have never lost you
That I will never know

But yet when all is gone
And every reason left to hold on dies
I can cry some happy tears
Because I realize
That no one else can love you more than I

I will wait for you forever.

Wow, this poem is so original and unique! Espicially this part, I loved it!:

"When we autographed each other's hearts

Cause your signature is all that's left
I guess you just don't need me anymore"

That's really different and neat, I could tell this truely came from the heart and is a wonderful heartfelt piece. Keep writing and take care!
