Starting Anew

by Simply Josh   Jun 11, 2007

Though the chains no longer bind me,
the freedom I seek does not exist.
My desolateness and emptiness are all that I have,
as my pain within persists.

Hindered by my imagination,
trapped beneath my shadow.
I am not a free man;
but rather a prisoner of my own.

With the past unutterable,
how do I go on living?
The consequences too hard to bear,
and the memories unforgiving.

The land I once called my home,
no longer shelters this soul.
Which leaves me nothing but to flee.
My actions taking their toll.

So farewell to those who cared,
and greetings to those who wait.
I shall start afresh.
It can never be too late.
