Pieces of the Moon are Falling

by Bradley Peter   Jun 11, 2007

Pieces of the moon are falling,
And they're falling down to me,
Into my hands and round my feet,
And as far as the eye can see,

They're falling like shooting stars,
As they light the midnight sky,
They're landing all around,
As I stand and watch them fly,

More and more are falling,
Turning the darkness into light,
The pieces getting bigger,
And the sky turns blinding white,

Pieces of the moon are falling,
And I watch as they transcend,
And all the while not knowing,
The world's coming to an end,

I don't know why you kept it so short. Usually, your poems have length of 6-7 stanzas and I read it because you always give your poems nice flow, rhythm and good meaning. Nothing is wrong with this poem, I mean the concept clear that our moon is destroyed and this will bring the end to our world, but you didn't mention the cause why the moon is destroyed. If you could add 2-3 stanzas to describe why the moon is destroyed, it will add more weight to the poem. So please think about something and add few stanzas, it's my request to you.

Thank you for reading this, and for your suggestions. However, the poem is about an event from an everyday citizen's point of view. They don't know why the moon is falling. I chose to end it there because in this case I felt there was little more to be said, and that by perhaps adding more, I might be lessening the piece.

Very original and unique. It was a cool poem with a neat concept! I could really visualize things as if the moon was ending! That's definitely because of good talent!
