Beginning of the rest of your life (grad poem)

by nickie   Jun 14, 2007

After four years of teachers,
school lunches and the tests we've failed,
I look to my classmates,
for the ship has finally sailed.

The teachers we will never forget,
to the ones we could never stand,
are always the ones who never fail,
to lend us an extra hand.

The lockers that were a pain to open,
to getting them slammed your freshmen year,
is now all in the past of our lives,
for becoming an adult is now our fear.

You find out who your true friends are,
when you need them the most,
it's the ones that have been there for me,
to you that I make this toast.

So walk up and get your diploma,
and smile for the camera tonight,
turn the tassel on your hat,
for this is the beginning of the rest of your life
