The Path

by Sarah Christine   Apr 22, 2004

When the path is gone
which way do we go?
When our hearts are unfulfilled
will we even know?
It was a long journey
you and I traveled,
a one always remembered.
Now our paths separate
as time goes on,
each lead to a new life,
a journey looking for happiness
avoiding hopelessness and strife.
Though we must go it alone
our future left untold,
you will remain in my heart
where you will never leave.
A sad lonely journey
the end I didn't want to believe.
It is for the best
the love that we once shared,
must now be put to rest.
May the path you take
be full of happiness and love,
and may the sun always shine
down on you from above.
And if one day our paths
cross again
may you think of me as a
once loved friend.
But for now dear one,
it is undeniably the end.

I wrote this poem after I ended a 2 year relationship. It was hard but for the best.
