Here I am looking through the mirror
Staring at a familiar face.
Once a pure and innocent essence
Broken down and lacking grace.

What has happened upon this creature?
Burdened by a wounded soul.
Heart like a puzzle, down one piece,
With no one who can fill the hole.

She's smiling like she's tough,
And she's standing like she's strong.
She hides a broken heart,
And pretends that nothing is wrong.

Cuts from life that she's received,
Left scars upon her, where you can see.
What has she done to deserve such punishment,
At such an intolerable degree?

Broken heart; Just left shattered.
Crooked smile; Left unfixed.
Mind that wanders to a time
Quite unsettling; She's transfixed.

The face that stares back through my mirror,
