All these years you've been my friends
You said our connection would never end
Said that I could always be me
You told me that I would always be free

But now I'm here
Deep in thought
And memories flow into my heart
Memories of darkness and light

I've tolerated it for such a long time
I've waited so long to understand why
I'm glad you're not here to see me cry
I know that everything you told me was just a big lie

And now I've had enough
I'm through watching you bluff
Now I say without hesitation
This is my soul's declaration

You're all champions,
All-Stars and American Idols
They say you're so amazing
With you're trophies and medals

But they never thought to give me a chance
They told me that I was unbalanced
They said that it could not be true
That I had the same potential as you

Have you ever thought that I could be great?
That I could take on the world,
Exceed you're expectations,
Reach my potential?

Though you're the dear friends you are,
I say to you now
I have the power

I've always been underestimated
Given a pitiful compliment
Because I was the poor little girl
With no good talent

You've been laughing at me all along
You think my passions are just a joke
But I'm telling you now that you're wrong
Now I am beginning to have hope

The water never fails me
And neither does the pen
My heart is always beating
My mind is always open

I will not lie here and cry
