No Mermaid

by The Tears I bleed   Jul 7, 2007

Traveling around in the ocean
Fishermen glace over the tip of the ship
Hopeful at what they'll see
Glancing over to get a peek at me

But you're no mermaid,
And you can't swim
You're no mermaid,
And the ocean is mighty dark and dim
No, you're no mermaid

Walking along the beachshore,
Tourist peer out at the water's stride,
Watching and waiting expectantly
Ignorning the currents and rip tide

But you're no mermaid,
So you won't come to me
You're no mermaid,
On the shore you'll always be
No, you're no mermaid

Stare, watch, and wait
You'll never meet me
You're of the land,
And I belong in the sea

No, you're no mermaid
Don't come out too far
You're no mermaid,
So stay where you are
You're no meremaid,
You can't swim as well
Even that you can surely tell
No, you're no mermaid
But you've dived in
Surely death will follow you,
Into the deep waters blue

Look at you gasping for breath,
As deeper and deeper you sink
Struggling but you're right on the brink
Death has found you
On the land you should have stayed,
Because you are no mermaid.
