In The Dead Silence Of A Late Night

by Kelly H   Jul 9, 2007

She sits alone in her own thought
What shall come of all this
Where does it end...

Now in the back of her mind she knows where she stands
And she knows not where the silence will finally end
For whom is she even thinking of or about?

It's him, but who is he
A dark shadow that lingers in her mind
With no face or name
Just an outline who haunts her many dreams...

But why?
Unknown to his strange control over her
She can't figure it out
Why can't she just be free?

But wait...
While in thought the shadow comes closer
Almost in plain sight
She gasps......

It is you!
All along it was you
She yells alone in the dark
You're the reason I am this way
Trapped alone in my own thought
Kept away from fear and all along
It was you I feared....

The silence breaks
And from behind the shadows he appears
A gentle looking man, with warm eyes
But with wicked words that make her grow cold

As he spoke chills ran down her spine
And the words flow so slowly
As if to not let her miss a single syllable

This is what he said....

You fear not the person you should fear
For the person who controls you
Is the one that you dont hear

She screams out...
But who, who is it if it is not you
Why, why cant I understand
Where do I find this person
She looks around
But shes alone again

The silence embraces her
Asking herself again
Who could it be?
She falls to her knees
Repeating over and over what he has said

She closes her eyes
One more glance
She just wants one more quick look at who he is

This time she has it figured out
He is the physical form of an unseen fear
The face she gave him was that of her own
But why

In true hurt and fear
The only ones who can hurt you
Are the ones you let near
But for the girl who lets no one in
Who sits in her own shadow
Who dwells on her own sins
Her fear is herself
