Deep thoughts take me

I think too deep
Its a problem I have sometimes
I find myself there and suddenly not there
My mind leaves my body and floats weightlessly on the breeze
I am walking, seeing, existing
on autopilot

Its like being in a dream
Not quite awake, but definitely not asleep
Like an out of body experience
Watching myself as though I am a third person
Delightfully removed - living in another colourful realm
Where the air is thin, yet full and scented

I am living two half lives
Reality meaning nothing but a state of presence
Which flickers like a candle too and fro
Its bright here and dark at the same time
The silence rings in my ears in tune with my heartbeat
My senses need not adjust

Something catches my eye and holds it
as if its existence is dependent upon my attention
And suddenly I am here.
Aware of my personal proximity and wondering
How it is that I have managed to continue through life without being mentally present?
