My big brother

I always wanted to be like you
I always wanted you to see
how great of a person
I would grow up to be

It started when i was little
seeing what you would do
I didn't think it would hurt me
to grow up to be like you

When you were younger
you taught me how to skate
even tho you had to go
my smile made you late

but as you got older
something made you change
i didn't understand
why your eyes looked so strange

but as i grow older
i can now understand
the pressure got too much
you just needed a helping hand

it started out with weed
a friend handed you a joint
who would have known
it would lead you to that point

but now I'm in high school
and i always wanted to be like you
but to make the same mistakes
seems like a silly thing to do

Smoking weed has been a regular
since the day you left this earth
but nick i didn't want to be like you
i saw your daughters birth

but by that time you were gone
the needle took your life
or was it you nick
that couldn't deal with the strife?
