At the End of a Smile

by marilyn marti   Jul 18, 2007

The end of the smiles
the start of the tears
No more sun and flowers
just a box full of fears

The strength slowly breaking
as I welcome in the pain
the beauty of a clear sky
is now accompanied by rain

When one thing doesn't hurt you
the others strangle you bad
you don't think of what's to come
you think of what you could've had

Everything tastes different
when sour enters your veins
there's no hope understanding
just why things have changed

The heartache keeps building
your eyes become blind
if only there was a way
where we can all rewind

You tell yourself continuously
"The sky is not that dark."
but at the end of your smile
lies a broken heart...
