All You Can Do is Wait

by Sapphire   Jul 27, 2007

It's like standing alone
Bare, naked
Waiting, juss waiting for someone to rescue you
Feeling vulnerable scared
Hearing the tick tock of the clock right next to your ears
How long will it take?
Days, months, years.
You start to walk alone but ain't nowhere to go
The walls are closing in
You can't grab hold of anyone's hands
Desperately you search
Turn over every rock
Dig deep down into the sand
But really all you can do is wait
You scream at the top of your lungs
But you make no sound
You think can anyone really hear me
Tick, tock, tick, tock
Damn thing won't shut up
Questions run through your mind
Why? Why not? How?
You become a prisoner of your own confusion, vulnerability, fear
Trapped inside a room
Four walls no door
Just one window
The window that gives you hope faith
You pry and you pry
But really all you can do is wait
The incessant thumping of your heart beats
The sound embedded in you mind
The rhythm continuous, reminiscent of the ticking bomb by your feet
Violently you fight
But it's just air
You sit and you realize:
No matter the work, perspiration, tears, time, blood
Really all you can do is wait
