Lost...

We know that we love each other
we care, we trust, we give.
we know that we fight a lot
but we don't know what the problem is.

we keep retracing footsteps
from old problems and fights
things we said we'd moved on from
we only kept alive.

we only know that we love each other
and that arguing is bad.
we can't take it and we run away
but know inside we're sad.

we forgive but not entirely,
we live, but don't forget.
and we love each other, but run away
infected with regrets.

we keep breaking each others hearts
and waiting to be broken
our hearts entwined and tangled up
in loving words unspoken.

we know what anger is
we know happiness and trust
so we think we know what love is
but its covered up with lust.

we know to argue if we don't agree,
we know to blame before we're blamed,
we know that love is timeless
and that its us who change.

by being less apologetic,
i felt like you loved me less
and i felt like every time you did
something wrong i should confess.

but everything is different now
and it scares me deep inside
the way you look at me
makes me want to turn away and hide.

the way you talk to me
your tone less comforting and bright
the way you look so frustrated
when things don't turn out right.

the way your eyes have lost their sparkle,
the difference in your step
the light, care-free, freedom is gone,
with a heavy heart instead

and the way you said it wouldn't work
and broke our love in half
how i smiled at you in spite of tears
and saw you smiling back.
