Shining Star

by Riley   Aug 8, 2007

Bright lights hanging in the air,
Please tell me how to fly.
I want that feeling of freedom,
I'm not afraid to die.

Tell me how to shine so bright,
Through the night's dark clouds.
Show me how to let things go,
And still stand strong and proud.

Share your secrets of brilliance,
How you stay so great.
You're above the world forever,
You're free of this world's hate.

But you were once people before,
Normal people like me.
Now you're my beacon of hope,
Of what I might once be.

I look up to you with solemn eyes,
And so do so many others.
Tell me what I have to do,
To call you stars my brothers.

Your radiant glow is my hope,
And your freedom is my light.
And everyday I pray to God,
That I'll be there with you tonight.
