Today mom
you asked me a question
Looking for an answer
"Is every thing okay?" you asked
but the thing is it's not
I don't want to tell you how many times I've fought
with the kids at school
I don't want to tell you
after my last report card I felt like such a fool
I don't want you to realize that the reason I wear
these sleeves isn't cause of the weather

so Instead today mom
I smiled
one you would often see on a child
and said
"Every thing's okay mom, don't worry."

I cried after that
I even started to laugh
It was such a good lie
No one could see through it
Nobody would know I'm really wanting to die

But I wont mom
you know that
every thing's okay
that blade will keep me sane
it'll block out the pain
so mom don't worry please
do it for me

I don't want you to spend your time
looking at me closely
watching what I eat
making sure I go to sleep
checking if it's the A grade I keep

I don't want you to worry
so next time you ask
I'll still have my mask
cause mom
