Claw

by Purple   Aug 14, 2007

It hangs over my head
The solution's just out of reach
Calling me tauntingly it waits
For my patience to finally break

For me to rush through this barrier
For me to break through and conquer
I feel it swinging above
Clawing at me like some murderous glove

Scratch the top of my head
The barrier's no protection for me
I reach to fight it and I'm blocked
My effort isn't free

It claws and I flinch
Guard down I feel it's grip
Passing through it seems to release
How far away did it really slip?

Trying for new I move on
Hoping my movement isn't wrong
Left to try to hide from this attack
Clawing at my head and I can't fight back

Taunting me, I know I can go up
Put myself within its touch
Let it win and dominate all
But its offering is too small

Hanging over me it tries its best
But no matter what my hope's still left
Running from some thing that's slipped inside
It lays pressure on as its denied

Constant fight for balance continues
Shyly I find myself in the center
Fighting for my own even ground
Trying to fight for some thing better

Constant change is all one can expect
The future is the only thing that doesn't rest
Fighting for the change we want
Progress being the main thing sought

Falling back, progress undone
It hangs above blocking out the sun
Laughing at all the damage it's doing
Proud of every moment it's ruining

Spreading disease, it grows so big
Feeling small, these defenses can't vie
Block it, try to make Good strong
Letting it win is just plain wrong

It can't taint hat which matters
I'll block it and take the batter
I'll apologies for the mark it left behind
It's attacks aren't so easy to bind
