Mr. Slyboots the Cheater

by Lu   Aug 25, 2007

To funny that I wrote this way back in June ... Just to funny

Mr. Slyboots the Cheater

Coldest dark has come to feed
upon thy dying soul
dwelling in the cavity
of a heart that once held whole

Life so bloody unpredictable
forsaken within a breath
spirit drowning in denial
memories; agonizing death

Thoughts caught in the grips
of loneliness and despair
leaping into the pits of shame
for a love that was never there

Your boots were made for waltzing
sly as they may be
shadow of the devil's dance
as they waltzed right out on me

Desolate heart lays shattered
tears trace a well known path
choking back whiskey vengeance
drowning in the aftermath ...

I think at my age, the poetry that you write is definetly something I would aspire to be able to write one day. And I say this with truth. Its just wonderful, every single line of it.

Thanks so much for your comment.

Just lovely Luanne, I am so happy to be back to see your work once again, don`t be a stranger. I dont want to copy the whole poem here, but they were my favorite parts, all of it. Cannot wait for more. Tim

    Luanne,

What a great start to a sad and heart wrenching write. I thought it was going to be a funny poem when I read the title. But the farthest thing from it.

    Well done,
