The Fall

by Bryan Berry   Aug 27, 2007

With dreams dashed away by desperate measures and worse intentions
what more could we have hoped for than only subtle mentions
of our deeds and devices we took so much fall pride in
we are only a shadow of what glory we had within

so many plans we had pondered and created
and the places for which we knew we were fated
are only thin memories in a dark and clouded past
off these beautiful mountains we fell so fast

we thought the world and all we saw was ours for the taking
we had never realized it was our own hearts we were breaking
though we thought what we did was seen just and fair
we soon came to learn that the world just didn't care

we clawed and screamed and fell into hell
and all we have left is a sad story to tell
of music and hope we lived for together
we came to see that everyone dies alone
