My Mask

by Poes Raven   Sep 27, 2007

This mask covers the shame that has built up within me all my life. It shields me from the watchfull eyes of those that only seek to judge. I staple the mask into my flesh praying to keep it on. Ignorant souls have torn at it wanting to see what lays beneath. This mask I wear protects not only myself but also those around me. For if they see my shame then they will be forced to create their own mask to hide the fact that they knew me.
