The same God???

I am standing here,waiting to be killed-
A despicable traitor
For I dared to question
The identity of the Creator

My question??--only this:
Are your God and mine the same?
Oh!the unspeakable act,the sin
I should hang my head in shame.

How dare I ask such a thing
When I am to believe in one God
I have committed an unforgivable crime
Now I should live in fear of the divine rod.

Still,I stand here,
Unmoving,refusing to believe
That they are the same gods,
The one I pray to and the one about whom you preach

Yours so angry,full of wrath
Determined to hang me for my blasphemy
Why,then,am I still standing so calmly
Defiant-unafraid?

Because I have faith in the strength of my claim
I believe my God is forgiving,full of mercy
So different from your God-
No-they can not be the same!

Or can they?-I hesitate
Think for an instant
As the noose is brought near
Whether all this could have have been a mistake??

And suddenly-in that instant-
Like the fiery ball emerging from behind the clouds-
I am inundated with knowledge-
Step away fro the noose and shout:

I have my answer-I was wrong!
My God and yours,indeed they are the same,One!
The difference-only this:
While I am basking in its light,you try to find
The dark side of the sun.
