Our Eternal Sorrow

by ephemera   Oct 11, 2007

You are my favorite memory
Of a time when I almost had it all,
When everything meant I was with you
Happiness would invade my soul,
That first day was sunlight gold
Inseparable from the very start,
9:12 AM with you on a Wednesday morning
The time I gave to you my heart.

That's when you walked into the class
And into my life eternal,
When your eyes locked with mine
Suddenly I had a glimpse of something beautiful,
As I walk downtown alone today
Suddenly there is a change,
The air is damp and heavy
My memory wet with rain.

But this is not the rain of clouds
I wipe tears from my face,
Remembering the day we had, just us
And memories I cannot erase,
Those times in Drama and History
I smile at the very reminisce,
You brought out the best in me
When I was down and listless.

You remembered my birthday
Wrote me poems and cards,
And though I don't hold them anymore
I still keep them in my heart,
You moved me beyond my limits
Making me feel what I never had before,
A thousand lifetimes may pass
There will never be a love so pure.

With you there was understanding
In you I had respect and trust,
You were my greatest friend
And forever I shall mourn your loss,
One last goodbye before you take flight
Marking the ending of our tomorrows,
We are both crying as we gaze at the sky
The last sunset and our eternal sorrow.
