This is Not Me

by AlyssaBrook   Oct 20, 2007

This is not me
This creature that seems so happy,
so pleased with their life
this is not me
I may appear to be cheerful
but looks are always deceiving
I conceal myself behind this mask
that shows no signs of agony
within this shield I wallow in grief
drowning in my own tears
this disguise I secrete in
shows nothing of my true feelings
when the light shines in
in this dark isolated room
I crawl to the rays;
bound in chains and locks
basking in the bright warmth
it's all torture
how I wish to accept this love
with an open heart
I try to accept the fact
that this can never be so
that my heart and soul have been through enough
of this evil which is life
they've seen their final broken heart
and last cloud of grey
cruelty and hatred
tears and lies
this, this is me
