Gone With the Wind

by FELTON PHILLIPS   Oct 30, 2007

Great civilizations come and go
Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome
Places loved that many called home
Once world powers now the power gone
Vestiges of power still lies in one
All were conquerors, rulers of their day
But time like their power, has slipped away
It takes more than power you see
The world does not suffer cruelty
The belief that the world is yours for the taking
Is the belief of a fool in the making
Why do great civilizations fall?
It is no great mystery at all
There is a great teacher called history
The lessons taught are no mystery
Less one suffers a memory lost
Failure and destruction are it's cost
