The Candian Soldier

by Mommy And Me   Nov 12, 2007

I held him in my arms as he cried;
Fed him and made him whom he is
I watched over him in his younger days;
He is my son...

He walked with me through high school
And kissed me when I walked down the isle
He was there when I found out I was pregnant;
He is my husband...

He pulled my hair when I was small
Called me a nerd, and stole my barbies.
Plus he threatened all my boyfriends;
He is my brother...

We stood there at Edmonton Garrison
Watching as they stepped onto the soil
Searching for the one we love
He is our soldier...

An oak finished coffin, draped with a flag
Lowered into the cold hard ground--
With tears in our eyes we watched him go;
He was our love...
