Father To Son

by VoiceOfTheSoul   Nov 25, 2007

Cleansing essence of the purified ocean,
Wave after wave of the cloudy blue,
Father and I are rested and well today,
I happen to have a question for you?

He looked at his coffee and set it down,
Stared at my eyes glowing of wonder,
He eased back in his chair and crossed his legs,
Closed his eyes at the sound of thunder.

I told him of my troubles and they won't go away,
He got up beside me in a great hassle,
I looked in his eyes as he smiled and said,
Never let the sea wash away your sandcastle.

It started to downfall and waves started to roll,
I looked at him puzzled in a hateful way,
He laughed and picked me up onto his shoulder,
I love you son is all he could say.

He continued his story of his tale indeed,
When you build a castle it's your fortress of life,
When the sea washes it away,
It's like being forced down by a knife.

Build up around your castle, improve, and fight back,
When waves knock it down rebuild it again,
Your life will never be different and always the same,
If you pick up from your mistakes, fight back and win.

He took me to the window where the storm is bounty,
It has calmed down and my father is glad,
Do me a favor, he said, and take my advice,
Now that I'm older, I've never been sad.
