Loved and Learned

Loved and Learned
By: *ME*

I found that crying didn't make me feel better
And trying to forget was like trying to change the weather
So there I was, with a problem in my hands
Trying to move on, but stuck in sinking sand

So I gathered up our memories into an old shoe box
That's when it hit me, I was holding on too much

So I broke the mixed CD with what you called 'our songs'
Cuz I don't want to catch myself singing along
Those little love letters are nothing more than dust
I blew off their ashes, like you blew off us
I had a hard time parting with the shirt that smelled like you
But once it was ripped, nothing I could do.
The only thing left are some pictures to burn
Baby, I lived, I loved, I lost, I learned...

You promised me forever on a blanket 'neath the stars
Forever was so short. We didn't get very far.
You left me on a back road, no directions no signs
And I got tired of feeling like all the fault was mine

Maybe I hurt you, I know that their's two sides
But I'm not the one that left, and didn't want to try

So I broke the mixed CD with what you called 'our songs'
Cuz I don't want to catch myself singing along
Those little love letters are nothing more than dust
I blew off their ashes, like you blew off us
I had a hard time parting with the shirt that smelled like you
But once it was ripped, nothing I could do.
The only thing left are some pictures to burn
Baby, I lived, I loved, I lost, I learned...

I liked the part about the mixed CD...it seems like every relationship has one of those that....eventually needs to be disposed of :-(
