For Her

by MyEscape   Feb 7, 2008

The radio's singing "teardrops on my guitar"
Taking me back to an old time and place
I spent too many nights crying over you
Too many dreams wasted on your face

I never did tell you what I felt inside
I used to question if it was still there
And when I thought you and her were over
I admit that I wondered if I really cared

But I gave it some time, and a few tears
To discover that you weren't for me
Like an anvil lifted off this heavy chest
The realization was what set me free

I don't need you like I did at seventeen
Friends is all we'll ever amount to
I must confess, some times it's still awkward
But there's nothing else I can say or do

We barely even talk, and I think you know
I think you always did but claimed ignorance
Now it's you who is second guessing
Too bad but you've long passed up your chance

I won't say I'm sorry, because I'm not
And I don't feel you need my apologies
If you are ever disappointed by the outcome
Remember the fault lies with you, not me

And I'm asking you now to be fair to her
If you don't really feel the way that you claim
She's resting her forever's with you
Tell her now, if you what you feel's not the same

I know I haven't given her the chances I should
Jealousy had control on my broken heart
But I can see this from a woman's point of view
And we don't want a half-hearted start

So if you aren't giving her your absolute best
Than I think it's time to man up or let it end
Either way you need to decide this soon
Before you hurt someone's heart again
